Let’s talk about greenies!

Fungal nails

Now let’s not freak out!!!!

I know these green stains may look horrible but they are harmless especially when you have a nail tech who knows how to deal with them.

‘’Greenies’’ or shall we use the technical term, ‘Pseudomonas’ is a bacteria that occurs when it is trapped between the nail enhancement and natural nail plate.

The bacteria occurs when the enhancement is damaged, or cracked and water or moisture get trapped under the enhancement. Then the bacteria thrives hence the natural nail plate going green due to the bacteria creating a green substance.

For example, you nail have popped off and you they the nail glue out and glue it back on. Now your nail 9/10 will not be dry, clean or sanitised so this will invite for a little greenie to grow!

Or another example, your nail is lifting and to prevent it from breaking you pop some glue down the back, Now your hand has been in water or has hand crea, on and bacteria and moisture will be present and your nail is now a breeding ground for a little greenie.

Always contact me with any breakages/ snags or lifting and I will do my best to get your in. Until then please leave your nail alone however annoying it can be.

If this does occur on your nail plate then the enhancement will be removed, nail will be sanitised and exposure to oxygen will kill the bacteria. The green stain can look awful but it is harmless and will grow out. We can leave enhancements for a while as your nail grows out but regular nail maintenance is vital for healthy nails.
